**This post originally appeared on my personal Facebook page, but I’m sharing all my daily roundups here to document our quarantine journey.**
Hiya! Sunday funday and all that. I’m going to start dating these posts because I can’t keep track of isolation day count AND remember the date: March 22, 2020.
We’ve watched Frozen 2 so many times we’re calling and responding “AHHH ahhhhh AHHHHHHH ahhhhhh AHHHHH!” ing each other around the house. It’s Disney marco polo. And Margaret has Olaf’s recap monologue almost memorized. We’re practically Disney World.
Margaret and I made bread today! I’ve always loved making bread, but now especially. I never realized how therapeutic it is.
I fell asleep on Margaret’s bedroom floor while we were playing babies. I didn’t intend to, but my body is at the point right now where it’s forcing me to sleep when it can. Warm, quiet room with Margaret narrating the daily lives of Baby Academy attendees, along with her noise machine? It was like a spa trip.
Margaret and Niels agreed that it’s summer, so they put on swim suits and had some time in the sun. Margaret hosed off the chalk wall so we can start over. Didn’t realize how much sidewalk chalk we’d need during the end times. More has been ordered. It’ll be here in 5 to 7 days, like it’s 2002. (Happy to wait, don’t get me wrong.)
Henning is sitting across from me at the kitchen table adding things to our grocery order, which we’ll place in a few days, and he’s telling me about about how Fred Meyer is suggesting artisanal organic pork rinds. Funny story–I once ripped a bag of pork rinds out of Henning’s hand while we were standing outside a 7-11 and gave them away to a college student at Virginia Tech because I was worried about Henning’s health. Henning saved me from being run over by a bus a few weeks later. So, I feel it continues to be my duty to stop him from buying junk food. It’s the least I can do.
Margaret and Niels’s favorite game today was calling each other names and fighting. Good times. “Treat each other how you want to be treated!” was screamed on repeat. I know.
Anyone else acutely aware that you have lungs?
We went for a walk around our court today while looking shiftily around to make sure no one was coming right at us…no one else was out. Constant vigilance!
Did you know Niels says, “Can I tell you sumping?” before he says anything?
Margaret just swears now. She said, “damn it all” at dinner. I’m not sure why, but we allowed it.
I forgot that I already passed off the diaper pail bags that I mentioned the other day. I was searching for them and Henning reminded me that my friend already picked them up off the porch. I cried because I honestly didn’t remember. Henning hugged me and ask me if I was ok. Ummm, no?
My sister is a nurse—the supply shortages you’re hearing about? I’ll add to it: they’re real. Also? I’m terrified my sister will get sick.
I cleaned all the toilets in the house because OMG, what happened?
Alrighty. We’re all going to settle in and flatten that curve until it’s below hospital capacity, right? Right. Love and virtual hugs. Good night.
